New Card Gives Unlimited 5% Back On All Amazon Purchases
The Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card, just introduced from Chase, will give cardholders 5% back on everything they buy at the internet mega-retailer, as well as 2% back at when they dine at restaurants, fuel up their vehicles, or make purchases at drugstores. All other purchases will earn 1% back. And unlike many other cash back rewards credit cards, this card does not put a cap on earned rewards.
The offer is available only to Amazon Prime members. Prime members get free two-day shipping on eligible purchases; the addition of the 5% cash back incentive is sure to sweeten the deal for folks who are unsure whether the cost of Prime membership is worth it. Amazon Prime currently costs $99 a year, or $10 per month.
The card has other perks as well, including no foreign transaction fees, no annual fee, 24/7 concierge service, travel insurance, purchase protection, and a snazzy looking metal card design. The card will replace the existing Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card for Prime members. They can continue using their current cards and earn the new rewards until their new cards arrive.
Amazon Prime increases its value
Those who have the existing card, but are not Amazon Prime members, will get benefits as well. They’ll have no foreign transaction fees, a new card design, and 3% back at Amazon.com. They’ll also get 2% cash back at restaurants and gas stations, as well as drugstores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. If cardmembers choose to join Amazon Prime, they will begin to earn 5% back on their purchases as soon as their membership is activated.
Max Bardon, vice president at Amazon, said the company is proud to increase the value of Prime membership for their customers.
Chase Card Services CEO Kevin Watters echoed Bardon’s sentiments, saying, “Hundreds of millions of people shop at Amazon.com and there is no better way to earn rewards for their purchases than Chase’s new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card. We are thrilled to be working with Amazon to offer even more value to our cardmembers.”
