Summary of the best interest rates on bank accounts

There was some news recently about the Fed Fund’s probable higher rates but it has actually gone down from 19.2% to 18.2% for the month of June and it had gone up from 45.5% to 47.9% in September and it has stayed constant throughout November at 57.1%.

There were no rate changes on the savings accounts as well.  There were rate cuts only in one top savings account in the list which was Alliant Credit Union.  The rate cut here in the savings account would go down to 1.35% to 1.15% APY in the month of January.

So to summarize it there have been no hikes in rates.

Where there are rate cuts:

  • Alliant Credit Union Savings – 1.15% in January and now 1.35%.
  • Hudson City Internet Money Market savings is now at 1.25% and was 1.35% earlier.
  • Alliant Credit Union Checking – 1.10% in January and now 1.35%.

CD rates:

The special 75-day CD has APY of 7.50%.  There is a maximum deposit but $25K is also a good deal.  Long-term CD’s Fort Knox Federal Credit Union also continues to offer some great deals that include 2.75% APY on a 5-year CD, 2.25% APY on a 3-year CD.  On Jumbo CD’s an additional 0.15% is added where the minimum deposit is $100K.
