Familiarizing With Cyber Thieves And How They Are Like

There are a lot of people who are dependent on the Internet when it comes to banking. Instead of going down your local branch, it gives you the convenience of sitting on your office desk or at home checking your savings account and managing it. It also gives you easy access to your own bank account. No more waiting for the mail to know how your savings account is doing and how many transactions you made in a month. This can all be done over the internet. This is how online banking or e-banking was presented to customers almost ten years ago, very light and no worries. But there is something that has been happening that institutions never thought of happening, cyber theft.

All this expediency came with a price. Recently, more and more savings and checking accounts have been robbed from. Transactions were made without the knowledge of the customer. This usually happens when thieves notice that the customers do not usually monitor their accounts meaning, there is less activity. For customers who do not know how this happens, then it is time to familiarize them with how thieves are when it comes to cyber attacks such as these.

A very important characteristic that cyber thieves have would be patience. They are patient people like a lioness waiting for the right time to pounce on their prey. They make sure that they know a certain routine of the customer. They have the ability to monitor the behavior of online banking customers through injecting Trojans to their Web browsers. They would simply watch you for a while, take down when you usually log in and make transactions, what type of transactions they are, etc. They will also steal your identity to get into your online bank account. They will take hold of answers to your security questions, your username and password. If they have found a routine and found a time when they themselves can go in to your account, then that would mean trouble for you since they can get money out of your account already.

This doesn’t happen in a month’s time. Sometimes, it takes robbers to study customers’ moves in a year before they can even make the move. So, customers should frequently change passwords, do not make a routine on when to log in and always monitor the account so it would be hard for them to take advantage.
