Bank of America trying to make amends with irate customers

Bank of America has been bringing about a lot of changes in recent times to make up for the loss in revenue caused by the implementation of many rules and regulations by the federal government to offer better protection to customers as compared to banks. One of the recent announcements by this banking major in the United States, heralds that the bank will charge customers and $5 fee on a monthly basis for using debit cards to pay for their purchases. The implementation of this fee can be attributed to the implementation of the most recent federal regulation which caps the interchange fee that can be levied by the bank. This has definitely led to an increase in the number of irate customers who are already trying to get accustomed to the other changes brought about by this bank in recent times.

In an effort to make amends and please its customers so the bank does not lose them to competition, Bank of America has increased the number of rewards on its credit and debit cards though the most recent “Add It Up” Program. If you have an account with Bank of America and want to earn better rewards each time you use your credit or debit card, then  you will have to register yourself for this new program which can be done free of charge. Once registered, customers will be able to reap cash back rewards for many retailers in the country each time they purchase using their cards.

The “Add It Up” Program, unlike many other programs rolled out by other banks, is easy to understand. There are over 400 retailers who are a part of this program. Each time a customer purchases from these retailers they get to earn up to 20 percent cash back on the total purchases made. Walmart, Office Depot, Sears, CompUSA and TigerDirect are some of the key retailers who are a part of this program.

Bank of America has also made it easy for customers to sign up for this program. Customers can register on the bank’s website using their debit and credit cards they normally use for their purchases. Every customer who registers for this program and purchases from the registered retailers, they can enjoy savings each month, the minimum being $5.

The only drawback of this program is that it takes time for retailers to confirm the purchases made by customers which make it longer to earn rewards.
