Max CD rate of a 6 month certificate deposit at 1.17% currently

Aurora Bank is the only bank in the United States to offer an interest rate of 1.17% APY on a certificate deposit for a period of 6 months and with a $1000 minimum deposit. This gives the bank an extra edge over most of the other banks offering a 6 month CD. With offices located at Wilmington, Del and Jersey City at NJ, this bank is now the most sought after for people looking out for short term CDs.

The other banks that were on par with Aurora Bank till a couple of weeks ago are Tri-State Capital, New Dominion and Ascencia. However, they have seen a drop in the list of rankings after lowering their six months CD rate.

The bank that currently offers an interest rate close to what is being offered by Aurora Bank is the New Dominion Bank. This bank is offered 1.15% APY on six month certificate deposits with a $3000 minimum deposit. With just a meager 0.02% difference between the two banks, some people are also considering opting for the New Dominion Bank that has its branches at Moorseville and Charlotte in North Carolina.

Virtual Bank, Goldwater Bank and Ascencia are currently offering an APY of 1.11% for the six month CD. While the minimum deposit at Virtual Bank and Goldwater Bank is $10000, for Ascencia it is just $500.
