Victims Nervously Await Credit Statements in the Aftermath of Memphis ID Thefts

41-year-old Bell has grave charges against him of financial fraud. This includes identity-theft trafficking, one count and ten counts involving identity thefts. Some of these victims were cancer patients and others people he helped with their tax preparation. His home in Cordova Area, 7511 Par View Drive became the central point from where he conducted his stealth operations.

Presently, Mareco Bell is in jail held in an almost unrealistic bond of $20 million. Such inordinate amounts are an insurance against his flight because the court believes that Bell is at flight risk besides being an armed and dangerous person when caught by law enforcers. Besides Bell, there was another person named in the affidavit filed, but he is still roaming free. Chip Washington from Sheriff’s office in Shelby County said that the co-accused is going to be in the net soon along with other members of this unholy nexus.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office are trying to bring down the worry levels of the victims of identity theft. They assure that the criminal was in the net before he could perpetrate many more frauds or compromise identities still people remain wary and unsure of their fates. As one Millington, resident said that so far there is nothing out of the ordinary with her financial situation because she uses a single card and have not yet received a statement. The victims are keeping their fingers crossed until a substantial evidence of account safety is available officially.

Seizing of Mareco Bell on August 7, was the culmination of a comprehensive nationwide investigation. When the SWAT team from the Sheriff’s office raided his Cordova Area home, investigating officers found blank cards numbering 36, which he used for printing IDs. Other evidence found included 12 prepaid cards, tax returns, missing photographs from 7 Tennessee IDs, medical documents numbering 10 complete with personal information. These last were from different cancer patients.

When the raid happened, Bell was not present at home, but returned 4 hours later, armed with Glock pistol. His arrest however was without incidents.
